Re: Running a shower / trickle filter in the winter
Its usually reccomended that any water fall type equipement is switched off during the winter due to it reducing the pond temperature excessively

Re: Bead or sand filter
you dont say how big your pond is :?: are you gravity or pump fed :?: remember pump fed mashes all the po oh and makes it a lot harder for a filter to catch  the Eazypod on the skimmer should be ok. if you are pumping to the pod then maybe you need to clean it less frequently :? wait until the...

Re: Overflow pipe connection in vortex
2 gallons a minute, down the drain  i hope your not on a water meter :? sounds an awfull lot for a trickle feed, you need to find ot what is the best flow rate would be :?: but even at 1 gallon an HOUR , that equals 24 gallons a day or 168 gallons a week. i would think you would need 5-10% vol...

Re: New pond build... really quite a lot of advice needed!
got to agree, the pod might struggle as you are going to be on its max limit. it works by mechanical means, with the added bonus of some bio filtration. if as you say you only have a few small koi it may just work. also i would go for a 10000 litre/hour pump as when you take flow losses into...

Re: Eazypod users.
i have a aquamax 5500 and my pond is just over 3000 litres, so with losses it probably works out about 1.5 times an hour :) which i suppose works out at 4500 litres / hour  eazipod is specced at 10000 litres / hour so ok:D it seems to be working ok at that rate for me, but a lot of people say...

Re: Electric shocks.
as Dan has said it a good precaution to have an earth stake and earth into the pond :) if you think about it, your pond is totally isolated from GROUND as you have a a plastic / fibreglass liner lots of pvc piping and a plastic bucket (eazipod), non of which conduct electricity :? so as soon as you ...

Re: Alternative to block built pond
If you have already dug the hole, either manualy or with a digger then go with blocks :D it doesnt take that much longer to do, but it will be a lot more forgiving than trying to pour concrete just pour a concrete base then block up, the blocks dont have to be layed expertly as long as you keep the ...

Re: Reverse flow returns
i had one of those adjustable nozzles it came with my Olympic skimmer.
was no use to me as it was designed for a liner and flexible pipe,
not concrete and fibreglass

Re: Reverse flow returns
Reverse flow returns as i understand it with the bottom drain being in the middle of the pond, you position the returns so that you cause the water to circulate in one direction (ie clockwise around the drain) this action help the muck to be drawn to the drain. reverse flow allows you to change this...

Re: Bottom drain cover height
drain gap = bigger then the crap but less than the fish :D seriously 20-30 mm, or roughly upto your third knuckle on your hand  had 40 litres going into my spindrifter, but had to reduce it because the vortex effect of the pond was causing mini air tornados :? reducing the air flow stopped thi...

Re: Turn over rate.
not being an expert but the reccomended is to turn over the full pond once every 2 hours, so i would say if you are running once every 1.5 hours is ok. your pond is approaching 4000 litres , so you are turning over 3000 litres / hour. :? looks good to me, but you may be able to increase a little but...

as Eds said,
but make sure you concrete the 4" pipe from the drain too, as the last thing you want is the pipe to break or leak.

Re: The Answer
Hi, if you are cleanining out evry other day then you are cleaning way too much  the pod is mostly mechanical , so it needs rubbish to start blocking it, as it starts to block the path through gets smaller, so it catches smaller and smaller stuff. i am cleaning mine once every two weeks at th...

Re: nexus pump fed
i am surprised in the present climate that there are no brickies out there to do the job for you. :( as to your questions, why if you are modding it not fitting a proper bottm drain? then the nexus would be down level with the pond. :D if staying pump fed then an aerated BD will be better. you could...
