It's just taken us three days to go through all the shusui but we've finally done it! This was probably one of our biggest harvests ever and we are very pleased with the standard. Once again, skin quality is very good. These fry are only 3 and a half weeks old but they have grown well. Tomorrow we a...

Just came across this link

http://www.momotaro-koi.org/english/oyakoi/index.htm

It shows that Momotaro use a female Goshiki crossed with male Kohaku.

Great minds think alike!!

Actually, it's a female Momotaro Kohaku crossed with a male Goshiki (Tanaka).

During the development of the Goshiki it has been crossed back with Kohaku to further develop the Kohaku pattern so this is an acceptable cross. We are very pleased with the results.

Thanks for your help on Friday Bob (Kayoss). We are really pleased with these Goshiki. The interesting thing is that we have done two Goshiki spawnings - same male but two different females. This second spawning has produced much better offspring than the first spawning, even though the mothers are ...

Hi Jen I see what you mean, although John's arm is a bit more butch than mind (I like to think!). We were out at 6.30 am yesterday morning harvesting the Showa. All I could see when I closed my eyes yesterday evening was little Showa swimming around. :D I am sure that I can come up with anothe...

Hi Gazza Thanks to both you and Sue for helping out yesterday. :D I have a few pictures of the day, including a particularly special Hariwake that reminded us of someone that we all knew! Perhaps the almost leopard print pattern on it will be something of a clue??? Any ideas anyone? Another c...

Hi Gazza All the fish that were for sale in the hot house are either sold, or are now in the sales tanks in the first polytunnel. Those that we are growing on are all out in the mud ponds for the summer. We will be harvesting those in September so it will be interesting to see how they have grown an...

Hi Sue

It's doing just fine thanks and will be going out in the mud pond with the others tomorrow - you'll have to wait until the autumn until you see it again, unless you catch a glimpse of it in the mud pond next time you're here! :)

Hi Ronin Thanks for all your help yesterday. To update everyone on what we have been doing lately:- We carried out a last selection on last year's tategoi tosai before putting them out into the mud ponds yesterday. Our two growing on ponds, which were drained down on the Koi Quest day, dried out nic...

Hi Sue

Sorry I haven't posted a reply sooner but we had a break for a couple of days and just got back this afternoon.

Well done on winning first in size three, that's fantastic!

Hi Ronin Welcome to Koi Quest! Thanks for showing us your two Chagoi. Your koi keeping skills are obviously second to none and the Chagoi have clearly been given the best possible chance to flourish. Well done! I look forward to finding out how they are getting on the next time you measure them. :wi...
