Hey there.
We all know a few reasons why Koi are expensive and keeping Koi is an expensive hobby. However... if someone asks you "Why Koi are so expensive?" What is your first reasoning?
My response is that
Kois are not expensive... good kois are.

Canthaxanthin on Koi?
Has anyone tried to enrich the diet of kohaku with Canthaxanthin?
How has it turned out?
And prosumably if I wanted to try to add canthaxanthin in their diet, how would I do that without turning the water bloody red ?

salmon oil: salmon farm or wild salmon?
Hey there, I am discussing about a salmon oil which is for dogs. There is a variety of salmon oil which comes from fish(salmon) farms and the other one from wild caught salmon. My first instinct as t owhat is better goes to the wild salmon as none can be as good as nature. We can be close to it but ...

Re: Costia
The raised scales are not a parasite syptom. But ofc when a fish is attacked by parasite its immune system becomes more vulnerable to other infections. The red marks could easily be from the fish flashing (/rubbing) itself on different areas. But first things first, we have to know how well you wate...

Messing with water hardness...
Hey there, Okay this is some thoughts that I have with some questions about it. This is just theoretical questions because I try them on my own. Where I live, not in the UK, I have very hard tap water. pH of 8.5 and kH of value more than 14. The good thing that I like about our water is that it is v...

Re: What to deal with first ? chinodella or flukes?
I am not near by man. I am an 8 hours flight from the UK. Now if I was Richard Bradson, it would be no problem to take a flight there and back but because of genetic bad luck or genetic conspiracy, I am someone else ;p

Re: What to deal with first ? chinodella or flukes?
Just a quick update. I did find chinodella and 2-3 gill flukes on the fish which is suffering for a long time now. The guy had it for 1 month before I went to see his fish and before that the fish was not eating. The fish has lost a lot of weight. He is now on the 3rd treatment. Temperatures are qui...

We did a second treatment with FMG. Now I am about to perform scrape again. If I see chinodella and flukes. which one should...

Holidas for koi keepers
Okay I came up with this topic so koi keepers can share their experiences when it comes to holidays. Already it is summer and many koi keepers have their wives whining to go to the beautifull Santorini. Summer is also a crucial period since it is when kois require the most nutrition so they poop a l...
