Re: koiquest forum
Hi Dunc I've not replied to this before because, other than saying that the forum has helped me no end, is still a great source of information, but is sadly under used, I've not known what to add that may be constructive. Undoubtedly, the dreaded facebook groups have overtaken many traditional forum...

Re: What are these?
Certainly look as though they could be. Unfortunately my pics were a bit over exposed so miss some of the detail shown on your find. They were in the jap matting of the filter. This has been removed and allowed to dry out to get rid of the little blighters. If they return, I'll try to get some bette...

What are these?
Hi All A club member has found these maggot looking creatures living in the jap matting in his filters. Any ideas what they are and, more importantly, are they a risk to his koi? They are about 10mm in length and, apart from the head, resemble normal fly maggots. They are obviously aquatic creatures...

Re: Which is better; hard water or soft water?
It is a good debate guys - and one that I still don't claim to fully understand! :? TBH, though I love my koi and the hobby, life is far too busy for me to devote the time I'd need to fully understand all the pro's and cons and, if I did understand it, I doubt I'd have the time to maintain my pond w...

Re: Retirement
Hi Dunc,
Ditto what Pete says. With mum's, daughters' and own house to maintain, I've never worked so hard - but I've not missed having to go to work once!!
Enjoy your new found freedom and whatever you fill your time with.
Cheers

Re: 2 phenoxyethanol dose review
Likewise here. I've been using a half dose for a while now. Also cut back on the quantity needed by using less water too. Just sedate them in a plastic bag and you only need enough water to cover the gills - couple of gallons max!

Re: New banner for the site
Definitely like the cleaner, simpler look Dunc, but... I rarely use the internet on full screen and usually have my browser set at about two thirds of the screen width. The rest of the site adjusts size as I adjust the size of the browser window - but the new banner doesn't. It makes no difference t...
