Re: filter flow rates
This one wasn't but I put one in to keep the water sharp. I was looking for the picture I posted on here some 2 years back when I was looking for ideas but I think they have been relegated to the bin when Dunc had his restructure. The pond in question does not belong to me i just look after it. It b...

Re: filter flow rates
For your stock level at the moment I would at least halve the flow because I personaly wouldn't think that the filters will mature at this level certainly there will not be any sustainable biomass in your filter for your bacteria to get their paws on. if you put a divert valve on the pump send the r...

Re: filter flow rates
[quote="boogatee"]Flow rates for a filter and flow rates for a pond are not the same thing. - The following assumes normal to high stocking levels and feeding rates, because as with any general rule someone will come up with an exception. Don't forget that taking thing to extremes, 1 fish ...

Re: Bottom Drains ( Can You Help Please)
It also depends on your setup, but I have a gravity feed into my Nexus and so I can feed a jetting hose into the drain fed from my power washer. It is very rare I do this and I have not yet had the need to do it out of necessity but it does clean your drains spotless.

Re: Fitting Bottom Drain to IBC
No problem just set the bottom drain off centre, I have about six running currently. sorry I have no photos of the fitting but I slid out the IBC from the crate and cut a hole in the bottom of the crate then did likewise with the IBC. Sealed it with UPDM. Raised the unit off the floor on some bricks...

Cheap pumps
Last year Jane put everyone onto those cheap swimming pools. I bought 5 of them for £20 each and with them came a pump just the job for heating projects. They rate at 25W and probably around 200 gal per hour.
So anyone who has not unpacked them yet, get them opened up.

Re: Any new solar heating devices 'invented'?
The heat is on the mains into the tank Bob, although I have a heater on the pond as well, I don't think it's been on this year.

Re: Any new solar heating devices 'invented'?

Re: Any new solar heating devices 'invented'?
I'm still using the one I posted last year http://www.koiquest.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8068" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but I must say that last week I had to close it up as the temp ranged close to 28C. I have built a decking cover for it now so that when th...

Re: Fish paint
I know I said I wanted to paint my decking but I want to paint or stain it before I build it. Has everyone used decking that has been tanalized and is this safe? I can't find anyone who sells it that it is safe. The decking I bought was from Wikes because I thought this had the tightest grain and lo...

Re: soakaway drain
I run a system like Dave’s my 300 easy dumps into a 20 gallon bin and I bought a sludge pump from Liddle for £25 which is 1200wt but it clears the water down a 50mm pipe quicker than it dumps from the filter. I have outlets all over the garden and it’s great in summer for my plants and grass, but be...
