Shaun,

My new one is about 80cm long and about 15cm off the floor of my filter. If you have too much air water will come out instead of bubbles/foam. I'm still using the old style of mine, I just made it nicer

Andy, Mine is about 1.2m tall including the exit pipe. So the 100mm pipe is about 80cm. But you have to consider where you want to install the unit. I can't tell how much air I'm using coz I just "T" it off from my BD air pump(60Lpm) with control valve using 2 ceramic 40mm air stones :) If...

right heres a queery. is the 90 degree downward bend really neccessary on the water return? if so why? if not why is it there? I just added the elbow coz I've noticed bubbles were coming out of the return, so this elbow actually prevented that and now all bubbles goes to exit pipe :) You don't need...

Detailled sketch please - dying to know hoe you reduced from the 4" pipe. Big John You can use PET bottle(coke plastic bottle 2L). You cut it just where the lable is to give you approx 4" dia. So you'll have like a funnel. Then you just cut where the cap is to suit the 40mm pipe. I used s...

Hi Bob, I wouldn't recommend it without the backwash system coz it will clog in no time. Let me put this way. I did a maintenace in the morning before in my filter and turned off all 3 pumps(including the backwash), then I went out for lunch and came back few hours later to find the screen collapsed...

Hi Big John,

As I mentioned, I applied a thin layer of silicon to prevent the foam from deteriorating and also its a lot easier to clean the unit :)

Hi B.Scott, So far I have no problem with the unit. I thought about the static before this but I've decided with this unit due to it was easier to make, well for me anyway  and it will save me more water than static when it comes to maintenance(we have water restriction here stage 3  ) ...
