i can't answer any questions on the actual spawning side but i would suggest you look carefully at that 4" bottom drain as any fry you may produce would quickly vanish down it......

ok i'll ad my thoughts on the pond water thing. which has more dirt and suspended matter, pond water or ground water? i would have thought it was ground water. our good buddy Maurice uses ground water to supply his RO system so how does he cope? i know his system cost thousands buit it is a tad bigg...

Chi, what micron size filters do you use? have you got a 1micron where you should have a 5micron. (could give you more backpressure on the pump which in turn would give you an incorrect PSI value.)

hubby did the calcs.
so here goes the explanation.
1min 47secs = 1.78 mins
1ltre = 1.78 mins
4.5ltre= 1gallon
4.5ltre = 8min
1day=24hrs=24x60mins =1440mins
1440 divided by 8 = 180
therefore 180 gallons per day
Q.E.D.

Oi, guys have you ever thought of using the cable type heating thingy wrapped around the inlet pipe and of course insulated. to warm the water before it goes through the unit??

i'm sure you could take an output from the cleanest water in the pond and give it a final polish before pumping it through the pre-filters and RO unit.
if used alongside the normal RO top-up it would reduce the amount of wasted water dumped down the drain.
