Hi Guys;
It doesn't help much as it doesn't list the excipients or even the formulation. I am making am contacting the makers directly through my Portuguese colleague to ask “nicely” for the data under the Portugese equivalent of the FOI. But knowing what I know;
1) We won’t get an answer in our life time….assuming most of us are over 18 ?
2) Any liquid formulation for oral vetenary or human use is unlikely to suitable for injection as they are normally the wrong pH, contain preservatives, are the wrong osmolarity or use diluents (although sterile water for injection is OK providing the final osmo is 0.9 or there abouts) to make the liquid which are not suitable for injection.


The only good news is I was right and Duncan got his sample first as I guessed.
How do you do it Duncan ?

PS I guess it is preservative free as it says dispose of unused sample 7 days after opening.

i got a fish ill shoot tomorrow mine has a use by date of 2014

BTW the only problem with baytril injectable is the pH... its around 11-ish not good causes localised necrosis i'll measure the pH on this stuff tomorrow

I would guess that most would finish up in the pond either because it is no actually swallowed or because it is poorly absorbed from the gut. Unfortunately this is just the way to develop resistant bacteria i.e. an environment containing bugs and only a sub lethal level of antibiotics. The bugs learn to cope with this and bugs with the ability grow better and reproduce more quickly and before you know it you have a strain of bugs resistant to your antibiotic.

I will leave the experts to comment on whether it is possible to get a koi to swallow its medicine !

forget getting a fish to swallow this its IMNHO its a non starter as peter said you would just be growing a hole load of resistant bugs

i have today shot a kohaku with it

so we will see if it goes south in a hurry

hi,

48 hour post injection with an overdose the kohaku is doing well and showing no signs of ill effect , yesterday i shot a tancho sanke with an infected ventral fin base so will will see what happens there but again 24 hours post injection its doing well.

as i suspected it would probably work early days but looking good and a long life on the bottle

last week i bought 100 ml of 10% baytril i coiuld not get it as cheap from my vet it cost just under £95 so this enrofloxacine appears to be a great buy even coming from europe with a 6 quid postage so you would be well in

word to the wise, keep it to yourselves if everyone starts buying it it might trigger an over reaction buy the vendor and he may shut up shop fearing recrimination from vets

i had this with flubenol i found a place that sold it no questions asked i told a few people who must ahve told a few people who then told a few more net result he started complying with the law

Duncan is right, the reason I haven't posted a follow up is my sample was seized by Her Majesties Customs.... the destroyed the sample all I got was a letter saying they seized the sample and it would be destroyed.

Thats why this closed forum gives us a chance on some stuff as those vets who have been looking in cant see bugger all now
