Hi Guys,
Looking for some advice before treatment on a costia outbreak on a 2k gallon pond.
Starting to lose the will to live! Have tried all the usual, perhaps I have a strain of costia that is quite resilient?
I have noticed My koi flashing every few minutes, water check
Done and it's perfect according to the fresh api test kit.
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
Ph 7.6
Ammonia 0
50% water change using ST .
Filter clean out.
Have tried salt up to 0.8 for a week, didn't affect costia.
Also made up FMG and applied over a few sessions as per temperature.
Scrapes still showing fast moving costia at 100 and 400x
Scrapes on 6 fish and on areas of fin and scale damage show
What looks like very fast moving costia , which are hard to follow as they drift in and out of focus.
If I perform a 2ppm treatment , will I have to shut off the nexus feed?
Also after the 4 hours and neutralised with hp, when could the follow second dose up be applied?
Could the filter be treated at the same time?
I would have thought that bypassing the filter would have left costia inside the filter.
Any suggestions or experiences with a very stubborn costia outbreak would be
gadly appreciated before a treatment with 2ppm rather than the usual 1.5 ppm recommended by most.
Many thanks Andrew
