Hi Tom,
Yes this little baby looks and works the nuts and in this type of situation with a small tank will work great.I think Bob worked out these can hold about 24kg of BHM.When i emptied my BST i didn't have enough to fill the top tier so this had to be filled with more BHM so i now have an more than i did before so another plus point
Does that mean i can have more fish and feed more

I have now been out and marked up my large measuring bowl so i could measure the output of the shower
In went the new measuring bowl with calibrated marks

(marked buy emptying in 2 gallons for each mark from the 2 gallon watering can) and under the chute it went and in 33 seconds we had 10 gallons of water
So 10 gallons in 33 seconds works out to around 1092 gallons per hour hopefully so that should be a good enough turnover for my little system

Gazza,
So 1092 gph is the real figure of your pump/system so how much are you loosing via head and pipe resistence
Does look good though

Hi Dan,
Well the pump is an 8000 so i think that is about 1700 (will have to look now) so loosing around 600gln but i have a feeling i could also put another row of holes in the spray bar or even make the existing ones bigger
So far i am very pleased with it

Gazza looking amazing and truly a fantastic design..
Just out of curiosity what size drilled holes are in the spray bar at this current time ?

Hi Graham,
Yes it defiantly looks the dogs dangley bits and i have no worries about the performance as my old system was just a bin stuffed with BHM and no i have three tiers
I have 3 rows of 8mm holes at the moment

Is the water 'spraying' out of the holes Gazza? I try and have enough holes so it 'runs' out, if that makes sense.

Hi Bob,
Yes its spraying out OK

thats why i was thinking of drilling the holes out to 10mm i may do the center row (or middle) first and see what happens.
As you can see by this picture the angle of the water as its forced out so more holes or bigger existing is the answer.

I have now drilled out the holes to 10mm and stuck a few odd ones in here and there to see if it would increase the output of the shower (not that i think its needed).
Well filled the measuring bowl up which now fills in 32 seconds so i estimate an increase to about 1128 gallons per hour so safe to say i am turning the tank over a couple of times an hour

Thats looking great Gazza, cant wait till Cuttlebrook then the hard work begins, so any one tell me how much weight in a box of BHM ?
Guess its going to be expensive, if any body has any just kicking around let me know......fat chance I guess
