Where did that month go?
All appears OK and the fish look livelier - slight temperature increase or improved water quality???
Holes in the side of the pipe? To be honest, I'm relying on the pipe being close enough to the botton of the filter and the uplift being strong enough to lift any crud from the bottom.
I'll see if I can get the K1 out this weekend and post another photo.
Cheers

Well, to save you looking back, here's the photo I posted at the start of this thread. It was taken just days after draining and hoovering all the crud from the chamber.

As Jason reckons it's gonna snow over the weekend, I thought I'd better get an updated photo quick!
I have not flushed the chamber or touched it in any way since the original photo was posted (just over a month ago). All I did today was lift the K1 out and take the photo.
Honestly, this is the same chamber from almost the same angle. The chamber is still full of water (you can see odd bits of K1 floating about), but
there's absolutely no crud!

Jason - just get on and do it mate, you won't be disappointed!

Nice job Bob and the fish are probably feeling better due to the temperature increase but ALSO as they are now swimming round in cleaner water
Great job

Hi Bob
Looking good, I have read this post a couple of times to try and get some idea's of how to up date my filters, I worked it all out today so hopefully with in a month I should be able to follow my plans and the idea of the netting is what I needed, I had thought about it but didn't know if it would work, seeing it does I will crack on with my improvements very shortly.
Thank you for the idea's

Fantastic results Bob.....
Glad this post came about or i could have seen me doing the filter twice....
I have just bought a 16mm holesaw as i am going to take the airpipe in from the side of the filter to make it look neater..

Hi All
I am so pleased with the results of the improved conversion that I spent the day doing the same to my second chamber!
No more cruddy matting!!!
