I sort of doubt it. There is the bio filtration of course but the greatest asset to using mature K1 in static system is the fact that the olders stuff just isn't as boyant. The new K1 will tend to push itself upward above the water surface like foam in a cup of cappachino. The mature stuff stays right down there.

The principle behind using mature K1 in the EAzy is that you can fluidise it straight away and clean it properly as it isn't as boyant as new K1.

Scotty / Jules
Thanks for the explanation, its good to know the principle of how things work.
Scotty I am not sure of what to call you, please say if this offense you as b.scott seems very formal, I would rather look on you all as koi friends than koi associates.

Didnt want to stress myself out too much today with work, so 'had' to leave a little early!
Anyway, after 24+hours, I gave the mini-easy a flush. There was loads of bits caught up in there really horrible looking water and muck came out. The pond itself already looks cleaner, which has got to be good for the Koi.
I'll leave it a bit longer now, probably til Saturday and see what muck comes out then.

Hi Bob,
I bet you know what i am going to ask next?????????
What was the TDS Before & After....did you test it???????
SORRY!!

Nope never tested it - dam and blast!
I'll test it tomorrow morning and then on Saturday before flushing and then again after flushing it all away and after it's topped up. Be interesting just to see any differences, as my top up water will only be purified tap water. So it may contain more KH than in the pond, as it would have been slightly used up!
Do you get any differences after topping up with your lower pH and low TDS water?

Hi Bob,
Yes it will be good to see as i believe that the static K1 is great for getting all the crud out of the system. You will be able to lower it down to water level.
Do i notice the difference well i only need to show my pond the "normal tap water" and all the fish get out

so yes if i do leave the auto top up on it rockets my water up to a PH 7.8 and a TDS of around 160ish

7.8 and 160 - I'd love to have that - LOL

Mines all fitted now, in the corner of the actual pond!

All done lol!!
It was the RO water i was topping it up with as the tank does have a auto top up of the main purifier.
Can you see it in the corner by the shower bin!!!!!!!
