Simply Koi and More Koi

Is there an easy way to sex Koi ?
Please do not lower the high stand of replies !!

it is my understanding that the following can be used to determine the sex of the fish:

1. body shape. Males are leaner (usually) and females when full of eggs have a distinct shape at the back.
2. gill covers. Male koi, when mature, have little raised areas over the gill covers, which can appear similar to white spot, but are in fact signs of sexual maturity.
3. pectoral fins. Some people say you can tell by the feel of the leading edge of the fin, but I'm not sure what they would feel like: perhaps someone else can help on that one.
4. behaviour. finally of course, if you have a spawning happen in your pond, you can tell by watching to see who gets involved in the activity, and who just follows the action to get a bonus meal.

Another thing you can do to tell an adult male from female is to feel the gill plates and if they feel rough like sand paper its a boy and if they are smooth then its a girl.
