The New Filter

Hi Peps,

Well even though i did seem to ache for some reason  once all my chores where done today i decided to fit my new filter on the growing on tank.Once i had decided i had enough bits of old pipe and bends and glue that was it there was no stopping me as i had picked it up from Bob yesterday and was looking forward to seeing it in action :D

So reluctantly i had to strip down and remove the old filtration,so out come the screws and off with the pipe and the BST was removed and placed gently in the corner.I must admit i am still not sure if i should sell the BST or keep it

Well within no time at all the new shower was in place and the pipe work was cut and fixed in position for a dry run before gluing.I must admit it looked awesome and i was very pleased as it sat directly where i wanted it to go and looks the nuts :D :D :D

It was then secured in position and i then removed the BHM from my old system and placed it into the tiers and what was also a bonus as this actually takes more BHM than the BST :D so i also have more filtration now as i needed extra BHM to fill the top tier. Then all the pipework glued up and then all i had to do was make a spray bar. This was easy done with three rows of 8mm holes and an old end cap which was removed from the old system and stuck on the end of the spray bar and that was it ready for the big switch on  :P  :? 8) :D :!:

Well on it went and i have to say i am well chuffed and extremely happy it looks and functions superb i couldn't believe the amount of water flow i now have and how much extra oxygen this is going to create.

All i have to do is post some pictures for you guys and to thank Bob Hart for all the hard work he has pout into the shower Bob its the nuts mate a very well made functioning shower THANKS :!: :!: :!:

Is it any noisier than the BST?

Nice free aeration though

Hi Bob,

i would say there is hardly any difference between the BST and the Shower but defiantly more free aeration because of the tiers and the chute :D

Hi Gazza

Looking good. Well done, Bob!

What pump have you got on there? It makes my bin shower look like a trickle! LOL

Hi Tom,

I am running an aquamax 8000 so this is about 1700gls per hour so even if i said i lost a bit to restriction and only getting 1000gls the i would be turning the tank over at least twice an hour :D

I think perhaps i should go out with the buckets and do a test shouldn't i

OK so i went out again and got out the buckets but unfortunately the bucket isn't big enough for the chute  but i will sort out one of my measuring bowls and mark it up so i know how much water is in it then do the test again.

Out of interest when filling the bucket even though i was missing some of the water it still filled in 11-12 seconds so thats around 900gls per hour.........i think :?

Wow, not bad huh?!

Putting my aquamax 5500 to shame  but I need to increase the available intake to it (more holes to drill) as I have K1 restricting the flow. I have a plan!

Much better design than my shower where I have 2x2" exit.. much more oxygenation via this route.
