Simply Koi and More Koi

Hi all

Just a general question. Looking in my pond this morning,and watching as to who was chasing who,I would hazard a guess,that out of all my fish over two years old.....that I only have two females.

So...........

How many females over two years old do you have????

Why is it hard to get hold of females???????is it a fish thing,that more males are produced than females....or have I just been unlucky!!

Hi Uncle Dave in my big pond 5200 gallons I have 10 female to 5 male lucky boys 2 to 1
As to purchasing females I have found that most of the time they are more expensive and most dealers can tell you the sex of a Koi when it is 1 to 2 years old under a year it's not so easy

Now thats the kind of odds I like I guess I have just been unlucky.....all the fish I have liked,turn out to be male,hope this isn't some suppressed urges
