hi kim...15mm or 1\2 inch in old money when you get your fittings make sure you get the inserts as well, they lock the pipe into the fittings

Hi Kim,

I got a bulk bag of speed fit bits which were nice and cheap and easy to use. I have found 1.5mm holes best. Are you converting something to k1? What day are you at the Nationals? Me and Em are going Sunday-would be good to meet you. Regards Andy

Hi Andy

I am there both day's :D there was no way I was going to miss anything and I will need 2 day's just to make sure I don't miss a thing :D
I am easy to spot as I sit down all the time, and someone is usually pushing me around
It will be great to meet you and Emma as well.

As for the filter's, the koi are in a 12ft round pool, and I have converted a water butt into a vortex, but I am not happy with the flow, so I am planning on making the pipework bigger and building a homemade easy, so I want to get the airline right, last time I used a normal airring and line and it was so useless that I didn't even bother using it, but this time I want to make it work properly.

Hi Carl,

I used the petrol pipe and then just used a 15mm push fit coupler on the air ring and pushed the pipe into it and on the other end just pushed it onto the manifold on the air pump.

Hopefully the pictures will help:

The same inserts usually fit standard sized garden hose - much cheaper than speedifit stuff!

Used it on mine and not had a problem so far! :D

You can buy taps/valves for 15mm speedyfit pipe, used with a 'T' works well. Although designed for water usage, I never had any problems using them on air pipes. In some mods I'm currently making I'll be using them again.

If you are using the same air pump to aerate K1 and for backwashing static K1, usually the air ring for the static is higher than the aerated K1. Therefore put a 'T' in-line and a speedfit valve after the 'T' with the valve opened to wash the static K1. The air will find the least resistance and aerate the static when the valve is opened.

These valves are a lot cheper then the one in Gazza's picture as well.
