Simply Koi and More Koi

Hi all,

Me again.

I'm having problems choosing a suitable sealant to secure bottom drain to QT and for connecting solvent weld pipework, that is fish friendly.

There seems to be a fair few out there, but do I need a certain type for the drain, and a certain type for the pipework or is there a sealant that will hold both the pipework in place and the bottom drain?

A few brand names and details would be appreciated, or any thing that can help.

I don't know of any product that can be used to seal the flange of the BD and weld the pipework - but I stand to be corrected.

I'd suggest you get a solvent weld cement from any reputable pumbers merchant.

Personally, I'd use either Gold Seal or Den Braven sealant for the bottom drain. I've used both and had no problem with either - but you must let it cure properly before adding koi or water!

Gold label for the bottom drain. I have used it to seal in a window and topped up straight away with no ill effects.

Any solvent weld glue will suffice. I always use "Wet n Dry" as it does what it says on the tin and if you have any dampness it will not be compromised unlike normal solvent weld cement/glue
