hi guys
Discoverd that my little bacci shower is losing its flow rate which is affecting the water quality somewhat.
It has a home made pre filter on it with k1 and i initially thought some k1 had started to block the pump so i removed it all and then tried it without but not a lot of difference. :x
cleaned out the spray bar too.
Do you get a lot of algea build up or can it just be the pump losing its power its a aquamax 3500 and has been fine before.
Any ideas any one as i dare not feed them at the mo because of the cruddy water.

I wouldn't bother with the prefilter if you have BHM in there as it can cope with all the debris simply chucked over it. Have you checked the pump and pipe from the pump are clean and unblocked too?

Hi Amanda,

What size system is this one and is it the only filtration :?:

I would look at using a bigger pump to be honest as the more flow the better especially with BHM :?:

Its a mix i'm afraid some bhm and some of that star shaped stuff.
So it isn't as efficient at solids as bhm on its own hence the mini nexus style pre filter.
Gazza the system is only small about 140 gallons, i can only suspect a blockage some where but as usual not thinking ahead for when ther could be a problem
it is not easy to get at without dis mantling every thing
i have done a water change for tonight and will hav e another go tomorrow when i can get a proper look a it.

Yes it sounds like something could be blocking it somewhere...i take it all the fish are accounted for

can you take the pump off easily to have a look in there just in case some media or waste has got in there
