If you are thinking of one of the small central heating pumps i very much doubt that will do the job.

they squirt the water all around your house, so i would think it would do the job. but be careful i read some where that they can be harmfull to fish :o something to do with the construction materials. having said that i had one running a waterfall into a goldfish pond for several years with no problems :)
if its because you have one lying around then give it a go, but if you have to buy one then do'nt. buy a proper aqautic pump :?

You don`t say what `pressure filter` you are thinking about, but I wouldn`t think that a central heating pump would be powerful enough to operate one properly.

I`ve used grunfos pumps on my small pond for around 20 years now, as a return pump from a standard filter, and having just checked the leaflet that came with it, it seems that they deliver around 12 gallons per minute. Thats only 720 per hour, so it may be an idea to check what the pressure filter maker suggests would be needed to run his device. Hope that helps.
