This is the small mark 1 growing on tank for the arrival tomorrow of the three 2"-3" baby koi....when it's ready, the mark 2 will be 90 gallons.
Have I overdone the plants? The tank is 48"x15"x12", holds roughly 30 gallons, and has a 1600lph powerhead filtering it. The substrate is white sand, a left over from the days of the BBF.
No heater, as it's in my den, so it will be kept at room temperature ...water temp at the moment is 21*.

Rich,
All looks very nice, are the plants real ones? If they are they wont last long, as the Koi will dig them up. They may well dig up plastic ones.
A bare tank would be suitable, with external filtration. Young Gregg does that and it works very well.

Those are plastic plants Bob, what's left out of the decor from the big rhom's tank, he chewed most of them to bits, they were twice that length.
Maybe I'll remove them, I did think they were a bit over the top.
I'll stick with the internal for now and get another canister filter when the 90 gallon tank is ready. I sold my external filters with the rhom....

you could use your powerhead to filter a bioforce 1100 or 2200. these filters being pressurised are easy to hide and you can use small pipework around 3/4 inch or so. remember with small koi airation is priority, good luck and have fun watching the development.
