Re: Dermocystidium new treatment
Firstly, a massive thank you to Duncan for looking after myself and my fish yesterday. My Chagoi didn't arrive at Dunc's in the best condition, due to my lack of O2 and poor packing skills! But, calmly, Duncan popped her in a bowl and soon had her ready for the procedure. I will post some pictures and comments below.
The fish is now back in my pond, and travelled home well after being rather more expertly packed! She was eating again this morning, Dunc, so all looks well - progress pictures will follow in due course.
Lastly, another massive thank you!!!!
Paul T.
PS hope you pond visit went well today.

Re: Dermocystidium new treatment
OK, I took an update pic on Sunday - 9 days after Duncan worked on the fish. I've attached these below. I think we have to wait a while longer to draw any conclusions.

Re: Dermocystidium new treatment
Hi Duncan,
I had a Saragoi with the same problem last year, I treated with HP & Myrocrome and lost about 20% of its tail, it is coming back and so is the Dermocystidium.
I have now found that another of my koi a Doitsu showa approx 18" has the same problem ( i will get a photo tomorrow night and post) is there anything you would recommend to use or just leave it alone.
Steve

Re: Dermocystidium new treatment
hi steve
you dont want to leave this alone mate , its in the early stages at the moment so you need to act now
sadly mercurochrome as good as it is aint going to effect this you need something a whole lot more aggressive
go back to the begining and read through pauls was well advanced when we started so the original treatment may work for you im stioll convinced it will work i have used it on an eye to good effect since
sadly i cannot supply silver nitrate because of its toxic nature

Re: Dermocystidium new treatment
A quick update, with a picture taken this morning. I think this looks very promising - I'm not sure the photo shows it too well, but the larger site is more or less completely flat - It's early days, but this looks to me like the dermo may be beaten here. On the smaller site, there is one lump forming that I'm still a little worried about (top right of the small site on the photo). Further updates to follow.
Steve - sorry to see you're suffering this too - let us know how it goes. One thing I think I would do, if I used the freeze stuff again is squirt a LITTLE more 'stuff' into the applicator than stated on the instructions. When I used it the second time, with the sites opened up a little more, I was struggling to 'freeze' the site completely. Just a thought for you to consider.
Oh, as a by the way, Dunc, I think you were correct about my female Chagoi being a boy - the gill plates and pecs were starting to feel a little rough this morning!
Cheers
Paul T.

Re: Dermocystidium new treatment
Great thread to read albeit your (Male) Chag was touch and go. Good to see the main man at work
Great work and good to see it's definate healing from the 1st batch of pictures.
Very interesting and this has really helped me, should I find myself in a similar predicament.
Steve hope your fish's treatment is going well.
Thanks guys
