Have we all done our winter checks and have everything in place
Its sometimes the silly things that creep up on us or we tend to just relax a little bit to much and that can have a devastating reaction when things go wrong. I have cleaned all the filters today making sure everything is OK and nice and clean and purged the bottom drain and even have the covers back as the sun is out so i can have a quick observation of the fish who all look fine.
I have a good look round and make sure all the pumps, drains, valves are all operational and in good working order and just have a general good check over the systems. Although i have a water supply to the shed i also bring the goes pipe inside to makes sure that if it is needed i have it in a nice warm shed where it will not freeze up.
I also clean out and baskets for pumps and skimmers again just to make sure everything is all nice and clean an nothing could be decaying away anywhere. Now thats all done i will slow down for winter and the food has stooped and by tomorrow my pond will be down to 12c which is my winter temperature and the only other thing i will do now is pull the covers back when i can to make sure all is OK and do regular filter cleaning and changing of water making sure the system is always nice and fresh.
So are you all ready and what do you do for winter and lets hope we all have a good one and come spring the fish are in good shape
Cleaned all my filters today and topped up pond removed covers checked the fish, i have one with a slight bit of koi pox checked him over looks fine. water temperature sitting at a steady twelve pond covers back on.

hi Gazza
Hope you all enjoyed Christmas, bet you really getting a lot of fun from your little boys prezzies now he's older,
In the Winter I still clean the filters Nexus/Pod every third day less if it's a nice day as I'm at home most of the time and enjoy looking after my koi, tempreture is kept at 10c throughout the Winter and will only increase with ambiant tempretures as I'm not too bother how fast they grow, just like to keep them safe,
Feed a little Multi-Season food once or twice a day as there always looking for something to eat,
A few weeks back I had a problem with my Seiki Showa's Pec muscels,I did put it on the forum but thats all sorted now.
