Sabbactisum/Eco active. alternative.

Post by kingfisher »

Duncan used to highly recommend Sabbactisun.
I purchased some from Kusuri before it was discontinued but
the Eco active which took its place is only sold in large quantities
(5 litres).

I note that East Riding Koi Co. sell a "version"of it. This suggests it has been modified from the original.

Has anyone used it ?

Does Duncan still recommend it ?

Thanks Duncan, I just wondered if you had given the East Riding variety a try.

I have tried Eco active without forming a firm opinion on its efficacy.

I have a fish requiring attention, so will get some Sabbactisun from East Riding
& report back.

Hi Kingfisher

I dont know if this will be any help at all but NTLabs are selling Sabbactisun and Parazoryne. If it is the same although it is claiming it is new, (maybe new to them) it is way way way more expensive than it ever used to be with Kusuri. In the catalogue it is saying it is
£54.99 per 500ml    it could be a printing error but if it isn't my goodness it has gone up. I think that is what Kusuri charged for 5 litres. But it is saying
500ml treats 10000Gallons 50000 litres. But then goes on to say " Powerful herbal support for recovery from bacterial infections, highly concentrated sufficient for 10 applications. But it doesn't say for what size pond it is sufficient for 10 applications.

That is a very powerful statement because a lot of people will think they can stick 50mls in thier ponds and hey presto all is well. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a 1000 gallon quaratine pond at hand to treat fish.

Having used Sabbctisun in the passed I loved the stuff, I happened to come across it before I was introduced to Koi Quest and I had a couple of Koi wounded by a heron and not knowing what the heck I was doing found sabbactisun and had to treat the whole pond but it worked miricles. I would love the chance to try this stuff and see if it does work the same but thankfully at the moment no need to and being herbal it isn't something you can keep until you need it.

Good luck with trying the Eco active and hope you will post your results on here

Hi Kim,

Thanks for your interesting reply.

I have in fact ordered some of the NT Labs Sabbactisun just today.
It is available for 35 pounds from Jacob Aquaculture.

Web research has not revealed any reviews from actual users
.
I too, was sceptical regarding the small quantity relative to the
claimed effective pond volume: however, as I have a 100 gallon hospital tank with a large Chagoi that is abnormally slow in recovery, I considered it was worth a gamble.

I will advise on subsequent results.

Sabbactisun arrived on Friday 11th May.
Milky white liquid & smelt very similar to original stuff from Kusuri.

Requisite amount diluted in 1 gallon tank water & introduced to salted
hospital tank. Sick Chagoi re-acted immediately & became enervated.

Daily dosage applied & fish continues to be active(Dorsal erect) but is not eating.
Water parameters are good, tank over filtered with temperature @ 20c.

Two affected areas on the fish are on the flank centreline & upper peduncle,
these were treated iaw Duncan`s book 3 weeks ago & left strictly alone.
Damage was caused when fish was being transferred for scraping after PP treatment in pond.

Purely as a side issue regarding potassium permanangate. This was the first time
my Koi have ever been treated since purchase (2 inches long) 9 years ago.
Apart from Blanket Answer they have had no experience of chemicals whatsoever.
I was astonished at the effect it had on them, they did not like it at all & took 3 weeks before beginning to eat again.

The PP was applied strictly iaw with Duncan`s book.
