Gill flukes and Flubenol

Post by dave22 »

Hi.

I've just treated for gill flukes with flubenol 5% at 1gm/89gals. Do I need to repeat the treatment for gill flukes please? If so, at what interval. I have 24/7 trickle going in - do I need to stop this or can I keep it going. And do I need to wait for a period before dumping the filters and topping up?

Thanks.

one dose should be enough, stop the trickle in for the moment and resume in 7 days , no need to dump your filters and top up

Duncan,

It is safe to run Flubenol and MGF together ? similar to running MGF and Prazi ..

Hi ts,

Although it is possible to use some chemicals together i personally like to treat with just one thing at a time to be safe.

I have found that as long as you use the correct dose for the correct critter and use a "good" treatment that is mixed correctly it will work, the only times i have seen people have problems is when they have not got everything bang on.
I have even treated peoples pond who have told me "that wont work as Ive tried it loads of times" and carried out the treatment with good results.

So make sure you have the correct treatment for the job and that you know your volume and mix it all correctly and add to pond and all should be fine.

Hi gazza,

Was considering combined use for new kois in QT for expediancy . Considering Flubenol takes 7 days and good for flukes only , and the new kois have other parasites too.

Does anyone have experience using combinations of MGF and Flubenol ?

thanks

Hi when mixing flubenol with acetone how much acetone should you use ?
X per gal of pond water or x per gram of flubenol ?
I'm sure it's in Duncan's book but I've lent it out

Thanks

Hi Ts
You will also find that it will kill internal parasites (nematodes ) at the same time
