Temp monitor

Morning all hope your all well.

I have gone through some changes in my pond lately and have sorted out my fish house so I can finely move around in there and spend more time in there.

Anyway ! I have a few monitors that I use to keep an eye on changes to my water mainly the pinpoint Ph monitor, anyway to the point.

I dropped my temperature gauge into the filter by accident and the LCD screen is knackered so after leaving it in the airing cupboard for a couple of days the LCD screen is still knackered so it got binned.

Anyway yesterday I got delivery of my new temp monitor and the cool thing about it is that I can check the pond from my kitchen without leaving the house now.

Well yes I would say they are good but im biased im using one

Wireless probe sits in the water you can have up to 4 probes in various places.

Then you have your control box where you want it placed mines in my kitchen which is about 30ft from the pond, simply turn it on and wait a few seconds for the wireless connection to reply to the control box and thats it... temperature comes on screen, obviously if you have other probes you can press through until you have whatever probe you want to read.

Does the £19.99 get you a single temperature thermometor unit and the receiver? Have you bought additional theremometers, as the receiver wouldnt them be required?

I have bought an additional sensor, one is in my multibay which fed from bottom drain, the other is in my compact sieve which is fed from skimmer, its nice to see temp from bottom and top of pond

Looks a good gadget, any idea of accuracy? Have you tested the accuracy against anything else??? Even checked both of your probes against each other, see if they read the same???

Can you leave the display monitor on all the time? Can it be run off of mains, or is it just battery powered?

I can just see this sitting next to my PC, with one probe in the main pond and one in my growing on pond.

I did originally test it up against the floating thermometer that was originally there and it looked to be the same, I have not tested it up against another digital thermometer but can do ( i will grab the missus meat tester when she aint looking )

As far as I can remember its battery operated, I will check when home tonight. I normally just switch it on when out in the kitchen making a cuppa and then turn it off once ive poured me brew

As for checking against each other last nights check was at 17.2 skimmer 17.0 bottom so its as good as I need I guess, I think the skimmer shows warmer maybe because the pipe work is not covered but its by the window in my filter house but for 0.2 difference im not to worried I just like gadgets

Does the sensor top bit need to be kept dry???? If so how did you do yours ???

the sensor itself is about the size of a mobile phone, this sensor has a cable of which is about a foot long, at the bottom of that is a probe tip which goes into the water.

The sensor itself is weather proof BUT must not be submerged. All I have simply done is Velcro the sensor to the side of my filters and had the cable hanging inside so that they are in water.

Any ideas what LLL on main display means??? Other 2 sensors fine,it JUST had to be the Main Pond.

I've been using one for about a year now ... its accurate enough, it's less than 0.5°C difference from the floating sensor ... for example currently the pond floating sensor is 15.1°C, whilst it reads 15.4°C and both pickup are about 10 inches apart in the corner of the pond. .... I also run a second pickup in my filter (pump fed from a heater) so I can tell exactly when my heater is on … as the filter is ≈ 0.2°C above the pond.

Had mine about 12 months before it went haywire , tried the battery's but no good been left for to long now and I see they now cost £25.
