oase 16000 eco info please

Post by Andy H »

Just arrived in the post but the manual is rubbish!

The manual says if using dry then remove outer casing and the winter saving bit?

Cant I just put it in the settlement chamber so the 4" inlet to the chamber is reduced down to 1.5" and connected to the pump then pumped upto the filter(CL2) ? would the energy saving thing still work?

or with the grid and bits still on does it suck in from different place?

Havent taken it partly apart yet to look though...

I just dug my manual out.It doesn't help too much.

Mine doesn't say that but, guessing,I'd say leave it in the off position if running dry.I don't think you can remove it.

Yes.It's temperature dependent, has three speeds, and works. And no,you want the pump drawing from the top(ish) of the settlement chamber not directly from the bottom drain feed.

If mounted in the settling chamber then you maybe wouldn't need the cage on.Except for the odd frog or newt I guess. The cage does tend to trap a bit of crud when used submersed.

Apparently you can get a 2" swimming pool connector for the pump which is ugly but that won't matter in a filter.

I use 2" black pipe from my local koi place and made my own converter to plumb the output for 2".

The connectors supplied only do up to 1.5 inch.

Now you're asking.

I'm an inveterate fiddler and sort of, kinda, fettled a 2" fitting and one of the purple fixing nuts from the pump until it fitted.Literally with a knife and wet and dry paper.I then glued my pipework to it.

I could have used one of these but I didn't.

http://shop.swimmingpool.com/Browse/product/27764.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I got my pipe from here

http://www.koiwaterbarn.co.uk/?act=products&cat=10" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; 2" waste pipe.

It does help the through put a fair bit.I split the 2" feed into two 1.5 inch pipes and distribute it to two different filters.I reckon I got around 300-400 gph more through using 2" feed over 1.5" but I couldn't be bothered to meter it.
