hi all ive purchased a kockney koi kf5000v 4 bay filter with vortex , to install after this summer and would like to use fluidised k1 in one of the bays ,which bay would be the best to do this? the filter as bought with media goes vortex,bay1 brushes,bay2 jap matting,bay3 wadding and bay 4 flocor.any help would be great also does the 3 drainage points at the bottom of the filter need a tap on each or could all 3 drainage points join into one peice of pipework and a tap put on the end of that,?so when i open tap all 3 drain points are flushed
Well personally I'd change your first bay after the vortex to static K1 with a separate valve for cleaning then put fluidised in the other three chambers. I don't see why they couldn't all be joined to one valve but I'd probably keep them separate just in case you change things around as it gives more flexibility. Also you might not want to lose all three chambers full of water every time or clean them all at the same time. I'm just about to change my brushes and flocor filter over to static and fluidised K1 after seeing the great results people on here get and at Cuttlebrook.
Yes i would do the same as eds has explained and i would keep all the drains separate as that way when you do clean your static K1 you can flush it to waste and refill each time without dropping the other two chambers as its always best to aerate and drop the static a few times when cleaning.
agree with guys above but I'd be tempted not to waste the jap mat and place that into last chamber for your multimedia effect......let us know how you get on and what you decide
