Hi grovsey , i have used aquakote on a few customers ponds and it does give a good finish, you have to make sure the 2 coats are done within 24hrs of each other or there can be issuses with the 2 layers not bonding. it isnt cheap though and can work out very similar in price to getting your pond f/glassed.

I used the P1 pond paint (is that the same thing?) and had some real issues with it. There seemed to be a problem with the batch I got and it just didn't cure. They sent me a replacement and it was fine and I think mine was a one-off as they hadn't had any other complaints but the finish I've got is not very good at all, probably because of this. I've got G4 on the pond and that's been great but the next one will be insulated and fibreglassed.

hi
i think you have to remember p1 is a paint so if the background is not good then it will show imperfections just like painting a wall in your house with holes and cracks in it.
the last pond i used p1 on was last year and was constructed with shuttered concrete which gave an instant smooth finish,so when painted it was perfect.

thats doulbe compares to aqua cote ,if i was to use a box pond liner i know you can have a b/d but regarding the returns normally they would be in the middle but with a liner do you have to return to the top of the pond ??

Hi
As a user of aqua cote over 2 years ago I'm very pleased with the result, the finish I got was very good, it is very strong and I've had not the slightest problem with it.
Points I would consider are:
The better the base the better the finish. Try to do it on a warm, not hot day as it cures very quickly if too hot.
But cheap brushes, gloves and use old clothes and just throw away after use.
I hope this helps you, I would certainly use again.
Good luck
