gold label sealer

Post by Bruised Knee »

Hi

My dad's 1200 pond has a leak and I drained it to find that the G4 has peeled away. The pond has some old cracks on the render down the side of the pond which I tried to patch up with this plastercind stuff last year.

I'm stripping that stuff off (which has gone rock hard) and sanding down the pond walls. I have a tube of gold label sealer and wondered if i can use this to seal the cracks?
The reason I ask this is that I want to apply a pond sealant over the gold lable sealer.

I'm searching around for an alternative pond sealant but if there are no other recommendations, I'm prob have to use G4.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks
Yip

Hi Yip.

The Gold label will seal the crack but you need to work it in to the crack with your finger then cover an area of about 1 to 1.5 inches away from the crack and get a good bond onto the G4. If you spit on your finger the Gold Label will not stick to your skin. However be aware that this stuff can take days to get off your fingers, trust me! Good luck but you may find that this temporary fix will only last 12 months but it is a start and an easy soloution.

hi jules

i've sanded down the walls back to the render. am i right in saying that I can use the gold label to seal the cracks, wait for it to harden and then use g4 (may be koi-kote -not decided yet) to do the walls and cracks?

what am worried about is the g4 may not adhere to the gold label.

No need to G4 over the top wate of time anf effort.Just ensure enough overlap over the G4 and ensure you work the Gold Label into the crack! You cal fill back up with water straight away as GL goes off under water. excellent stuff, not cheap but excellent stuff

Last summer I G4 the whole pond and thought I read all the instructions and had prepared the pond properly but looks like something didnt go right as its all peeled off. This time round, I'm going to make sure I double tick all the boxes.

thanks for the tips Jules
