New pH -KH Graph

Post by Duncan »

hi all

i have secretly been working on a new graph that will hopfully show you the corrolation between KH, GH and pH

its in MS excel and you put the KH , gh and pH figure in for each month and hopefully it will show you on the line graph a visual and we may see some relationship between the three im trying to put DO in too but not managed that yet

i can do it in weeks as well if any one wants that but it does geta little busy then

anyway when its done you will be able to download it for free

right now its 6 am sunday morn ive had my toast, marmite and coffee and i gotta go do some stuff at work

what would you say the maximum TDS KH value would you need zero to 300 or 400 ppm

and would you like instead of 52 weeks to plot just 40 week representing the feeding season

the smaller we can get these numbers the less busy it will appear in the graph

Duncan,

Sorry for the inactivity recently - life getting in the way.

Personally - i would want a 52 week run (Especially if you include TDS) as i get shifts in my TDS / PH depending on feeding season etc. Typically for me my PH will run lower in peak summer feeding and my TDS higher. Then in winter this flips over with the TDS dropping off and this can be anywhere upto 50/60 points and my PH rises.

The graph needs to be able to show the full picture IMO as the changes in my pond over a year are there and need to be taken into account. The other that spring to mind is the effect a treatment (eg Salt) will have as i'm still recovering from going to 0.9% a while ago and my readings are out of whack.

Just thoughts....

this is a screen shot of waht i have so far based on 52 weeks as greg suggests

on top you have you data input :

so across the top in yellow highlight are the week numbers

and down the left hand side at top your KH , GH , TDS and pH values the numbers in the box are meaningless just any old data to generate the chart

the pH values are on the right because these are not measured in PPM all the ppm measures are on the left

but on the left i couod include any variable thats measured in PPM like DO for instance

i could also add another secondary field across the top for a different weekly measure, lets say food fed per week

anyway this is what i have any comments as usuall shout out even if you think its a crap idea ? i ws just thinking that koikeepers-unleashed is selling this stuff and its a peice of Pee to do if you have a handly on excel , and you get this stuff here for absolutely nothing < grin>

if you can think of anything else your would like to plot shout up

i wanna do an electronic note book for all your pond treatment doses too so if you gotta do a PP treatmet you look in your elertonic note book maybe some clever sod could make it into an app for an Iphone or similar . in fact i couldinclude it in the file along the bottom

Never used excel so dont what you can do with it

ko

the results so far, i have split the chart from the section where you input your data these are on tabs at the bottom thids makes the chart bigger and easier to use on its own, before i release it i will set the print area's for each sheet so you can print and laminate it for your fish house

i have included you records

pond volume
treatments and doses there of for each for your pond and date section you put any and all treatments in

my question to you is there anything missing you would like to see? i could put another different graph further along if there is anything else you wopuld like to plot ?

i can make this an all in pond managment system all i need from you is what you want in here ?

Hi
Is it too much big brother? What if we input our pond info via this chart that Duncan is working on.Then have a folder in the ultra koi zone where we can view everyones charts weekly/mothly.An idea but dont really know what we would get from seeing everyones info.Im just thinking out loud   maybe a stupid idea no benefit as everyones pond/water is different.
Anyone think of any gains if we shared info this way.

Looks like a very useful tool.

I may be missing it, but for those running RO a log of the dosage of bicarb against the graph?

Cheers,

Hi Duncan

Came into this late. An excllent tool.... I would run for my samller growing on tank and one for the main pond to see how they behave (know they are different I have just not kept the data in an organised way so that I can pick up patterns.

The food I am not to worried about that somebody mentioned.

Peter

PS Did you have water temp on the graph ?

hi

i have now included another graph for nitrogen cycle ammonia , nitrite, nitrate. this also includes a temperature axis on the other side but if i include nitrate which is probably more relevent the nitrite ammonia may look a little flat because of the scale used

i have also included a photo gallery for your koi where you can insert a photo of said koi then list the variety, breeder, sex dealer if you wish and a number of spaces for recording it size in year 1,2,3 etc

so if you like it becomes a personal diary and history of your pond and all your koi i intend to put the common parasites and disease in there and the choice of treatments fopr each

sso it coming along this will,be free software to koiquest registered members

Hi Dunc

I have started collecting my data already so I can just import it. To be a little bit smart arse wouldn't it be better to balloon/cloud any treatment additions etc onto the graph and not to have them listed in a diary and then have to check if any change in parameters were linked to a treatment?
