Just out of curiosity if this is a closed forum how come each time I log in there appear to be guests

Hi Stu,

I think you`ll find that it is only the `ultra` section that is closed. I would say that the guests we see would be browsing the `announcements` section, or of course the Cuttlebrook one which are still accessible to any casual visitors.

There must be hundreds of computers out there with the old Koiquest link on them, so I think we`ll have guests continuing to visit for a while yet.

only the ultra zone is closed off cuttelbrook and annoucments are as they have always been vieable to guests on a read only basis

in the admin control panel below you will see the permission set for guests for the ultrazone ( thats anyone browsing without being logged in be they members or not )

you will see its set for they CAN see ultra zone but CANNOT read it and all other permissions are revoked

search engine bots are not allowed to search it niether are regsitered uses

there are only two levels of access to the zone full standard access + polls or no access but being able to see the zone exists to get access you have to be part of a group called oddly enough the koi ultra zone and apart from this group and admin thats all thats allowed in there

try trying to get in without being logged on and see what happens

this was done for a reason most of the guests you see, are from that other site snooping, and the odd guest that dont know there is nothing to access any more, they can see its here and its bursting with activity and they will never be a part of it and also so other members have soemthing to aspire to but as the rest of the forum has gone from public viewing the latter is a now a moot point

its also worth noting if you load the forum up just to have alook if there has been any activity but have not logged into your account and its shows one guest, that will be you <grin>
