OMG!

Post by B.Scott »

Had a bit of a fright last week I had detached the hosepipe I use the fill the QT due to the frost. I needed to bring the auto water timer out of the cold. I came into the QT shed only to find it half empty. The hose had thawed and syphoned half the water out of the QT. The fish did not look happy at all. I am just greatful the pump didn't burn out as some water stays in the pump chamber as the inlet and out let are both higher than the pump.

Hello B
Yepp easy done ..good job you spotted it.
I had a problem with waste valves been frozen solid ..not good when you have already flushed the nexus and can't get the dirty water out
Then when i had sorted that out the waste pipe was frozen too ..GRRRR
I have seen a couple of threads here and there and it does make you check pipework and fittings more.
Everything is wrapped in bubblewrap now and pipe lagging ..just incase LOL
regards
Max

Hi Bob,

Good to see you posting. One assumes you planned the pipework specifically and meticously in the event such a castophe might have struck?

Am suffering huge IT problems with Vista! So will sign off before the next crash. Hope the fish pulled through OK?
